Course Overview

Tailored for individuals who use systems engineering practices to design and sustain secure systems, the ISSEP encompasses all phases of the security lifecycle, from the analysis of organizational needs and requirements definition through to security architecture, implementation of system security, and assessment and authorization activities. The ISSEP Certification is recognized within both the government and private sectors alike as proof of your proficiency in incorporating security into systems and applications throughout the development process.

Candidates must have a CISSP in good standing and have 2-years’ cumulative, full-time experience in 1 or more of the five domains of the current ISSEP Exam Outline. Or, candidates must have a minimum of 7 -years’ cumulative, full time experience in 2 or more of the five domains of the current ISSEP Exam Outline. Earning a post-secondary degree (bachelor’s or master’s) in computer science, IT, or related fields or an additional credential from the ISC2 approved list may satisfy one year of the required experience. Part-time work and internships may also be considered.

  • Differentiates professionals with an elite level of security engineering knowledge and experience.
  • CPE credits for the ISSEP can go toward CISSP CPE requirements, as long as these credits are specific to security engineering.
